FIAP
FIAP is an international federation which affiliates as operational members, the national associations of photography. Site includes links to international competitions, exhibitions, and salons.
 
Scottish Photographic Federation (SPF)
The Scottish Association of photographic clubs and societies. Organises competitions on a national basis.
 
Scottish Salon
Scotland's major international salon that accepts both prints and slides. Winning photographs are exhibited in May each year.
 
Royal Photographic Society (RPS)
Information about membership, exhibitions, as well as members fortfolios and a discussion forum. (The second link  below is to the Scottish area pages).
 
Flickr
Flickr is a photo-sharing web site. It costs nothing to join, and is a fun way of showing off your images if you don't have a web site of your own. Several members of the Society are Flickr members and there's an active Flickr group for St Andrews Photographic Society.
 
Digital Photography Review
A site that offers independent reviews of digital cameras.
 
Mount Cutters:
If you want to mount your own photographs for exhibition or competitions, and don't want to borrow the Club's mount cutter, then the following links may be of interest:
 
Cotswold Mounts
This is a company that will supply ready-cut mounts, backing boards, and clear bags. Their web site lists sizes in inches (e.g. 20 x 16 inches which is not quite the same as 50 x 40 cms). However they will cut mounts to whatever size you want. Minimum number of mounts of one size = 4. Minimum order cost £20 before VAT and postage (£7).
 
Great Art
The Great Art company, although mainly an arts and crafts supplier, is also a useful supplier of photo mounting materials. (At times Great Art sell mount board at half price).
 
On Line Paper
A small company offering all sorts of interesting photographic paper. Next day service.
 
Silverprint
A company offering many difficult-to-get-hold-of photographic items, especially storage cases and portfolios.
 
Cavendish Photography
A small company that specialises in making 35mm transparencies from digital images - useful for some competitions and photographic salons.
 
CameraPriceBuster
A good site for saving hours of effort in finding the lowest price when buying photographic equipment on-line. (Note - at least one company listed here offers a cheaper deal buying directly from them than buying from the same company through the Amazon site: One company - two prices, depending on the site you use!).
